ENGLISH AND MATHS KS1 YEARS 1 -2

Classes have seven students and are grouped by year. We follow all topics in the National Curriculum

English Mathematics
Basic reading and writing using alphabet and phonics recognition Counting and number recognition – comparing, doubling, place values, rounding, odd and even
Spelling word, sentence building Identifying shapes and colours
Vocabulary, grammar and punctuation techniques Operations – addition, subtraction, multiplication (x2, x5 and x10), division
Question words and formation Fractions – 1/2, 1/3, 1/4
Comprehension and story writing Space – coordinates and directions
Fiction and non-fiction writing using creative language – letters, instructions, recounts and recipes Data handling – bar graphs, Venn and Carroll diagrams
Short Stories Measurement – time, length, weight and money

ENGLISH AND MATHS KS2 YEARS 3-6

Classes have seven students and are grouped by year and we also include SATs preparation. We follow all topics in the National Curriculum

English Mathematics
Fluency in reading and writing Counting and number recognition – comparing, doubling, place values, rounding, odd and even
Word and sentence building Identifying 2D and 3D shapes and nets
Grammar and punctuation techniques Operations – addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, BODMAS
Comprehension – finding information and making inferences Fractions, decimals and negative numbers
Short stories – comprehension reading and story writing Space – coordinates and directions
Fiction and non-fiction writing using creative language – letters, instructions, recounts, recipes, newspaper articles and broadsheets Measurement – time, length, weight, capacity and money including conversions
Poetry writing and analysis Data handling – bar and line graphs, Venn and Carroll diagrams
Persuasive writing – balanced arguments, advertisements and letters Algebra

Fluency in reading and writing Numbers – negative numbers, standard form, indices etc.
Comprehension and best practice techniques Operations – addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, BODMAS
Creative Writing in first and third person Fractions, Decimals and Percentages
Fiction and non-fiction writing using creative language – letters, instructions, recounts and biographies Measurement – time, length, weight, capacity and money, including conversions
Literature – Shakespeare and novels set in the 1900s Algebra
Poetry writing and analysis of techniques Geometry and space
Persuasive writing – balanced arguments, advertisements and letters Data handling – bar and line graphs, Venn and Carroll diagrams, probability and statistics
Essay writing – PEE structure

11+ topics are taught on a one-to-one or group basis. We provide set classes or individualised classes. your child will be taught revision, exam and interview techniques.
